Ten Ping has grown up: her story continues in Hong Kong as she embarks on a new life

With this brand-new interpretation of Ten Ping, Ruby Red Galleria develops its iconic character and draws us into a new chapter of her story.

Ten Ping is now 15 years old. After a long journey from Shanghai, she has finally been reunited with her family in Hong Kong. But behind the joy of their reunion lies a much harsher reality.

The family lives in a tiny, stifling flat, lacking even the most basic comforts. No television, not even a fan… Faced with this precarious existence, young Ten Ping makes a decision: she wants to work to help her family and give them a better life.

Ten Ping’s first job in the wig factory

Her mother then takes her to a wig factory, where Ten Ping lands her very first job for a wage of just six dollars a day.

Small and very young, she unfortunately quickly becomes the target of the older female workers. They look down on her and make her work particularly difficult. For Ten Ping, every day becomes a real ordeal that puts her courage and determination to the test.

But these difficulties are nothing compared to what lies ahead…

A new rule is suddenly introduced at the factory, which could quite simply prevent her from continuing to work.

Will Ten Ping lose this job that her family so desperately needs?
Or will she find an unexpected way to stay on?

A brand-new Ten Ping: 33 cm tall with an authentic Asian design

This edition marks a real evolution for the character: Ten Ping is depicted here as a teenager, in a new 33 cm / 13-inch size.

Her delicately painted face is dotted with soft freckles, giving her a particularly natural and endearing expression. She has black hair styled into two long plaits adorned with ribbons, as well as beautiful brown eyes.

Her outfit, inspired by her story, plays on layering and a mix of patterns. A colourful floral shirt peeks out from beneath a dark tunic with delicate prints, whilst loose-fitting striped trousers complete this characterful look.
