In 1895 in Sri Lanka, a man gave his daughter a magnificent porcelain doll when she left home to start her own home.
This man was Mano Sheriff's great-grandfather.

Thus was created the brand Bonikka which takes its name from the word 'Doll' in the Sinhalese dialect, spoken in Sri Lanka where the dolls are made.
